Headteacher – Ferndown Middle School
Salary: Group 4 (L18 – L24)

Due to the retirement of the current Headteacher, we are looking for a unique and outstanding Headteacher for Ferndown Middle School, part of the Castleman Academy Trust. Within this role you will have the chance to lead and shape our school to deliver the kind of education that inspires and develops the whole child. Working with the Academy Trust CEO and School Standards Board, you will set the vision for the future of the school, ensuring we have the right people and plans in place to see that our young people, whatever their needs, leave the school feeling proud of what they have achieved and knowing what they can accomplish in the future.
Ultimately, you are an exceptional primary practitioner who has a genuine passion for an exciting, broad and balanced curriculum. Importantly, you are someone who is resilient but also innovative and has the type of enthusiasm that is infectious, enabling you to bring about change in a positive way. We are looking for a leader who is sensitive, respectfully challenging, patient and kind; just the type of person that relates well with our young people, their parents and carers, staff and the wider community.
This is a strategic role with lead responsibility for the quality of education across the whole school. The successful candidate will be driven by moral purpose and a passion for learning being able to demonstrate a track record of excellent leadership with impact. They will also demonstrate a strong knowledge of how to improve key components of the quality of education for our young learners. We are looking for a leader who can inspire, influence and collaborate with a range of stakeholders and who:
- Is passionate about children’s learning, progression and welfare.
- Is an outstanding classroom practitioner, with particular experience around leading in a First, Middle or Primary school.
- Is committed to high standards of teaching and learning and the professional development of staff.
- Has excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Is innovative and inspirational.
- Is enthusiastic and committed to a strong belief in teamwork.
- Is able to lead, challenge and motivate children and staff.
- Is committed to working with parents and the wider community.
- Has experience of strategically developing the curriculum and approaches to teaching and learning in order to support high levels of progress and attainment in Key Stage 2.
- Has an understanding of how the Key Stage 2 curriculum supports and underpins Key Stage 3 curriculum.
- Has experience of developing great relationships with families and the wider community.
